Girls feature on Richmond amateur line-up

Views: 21270ADD COMMENT 9 years ago

_6202It’s almost six months since NSW lifted the ban on women boxing in the state and the number of female bouts is on the rise. Most amateur events have at least one female fight, and Richmond fight night last week boasted two exhibition fights including local boxer, and Australian champion in her 70kg weight division, Tammy Taylor.
The night started off with a female exhibition bout in the 52kg division – Katie Skinner from Parramatta PCYC fought Tricia Lorenzo from Castle Hill Boxing. Katie’s three years experience in the sport showed and she was the better boxer, but Tricia displayed some excellent style for her 10 months of training.

Croatian Club, Punchbowl, NSW
DPP_0006The second night of a back to back promotion at the same venue started off with controversy. Trent Fellows and Gupee Toprated paper work were not in order and both their fights were scratched by the NSW Martial Arts and Combat Board. The promoter was able to find his own referee and judges and the 2 fights still went ahead as unsanctioned contests. The repercussions of these 2 fights will be heard within the weeks to come but here is my fight report of all fights:

Views: 18880ADD COMMENT 9 years ago

906V2964bwMichael Bolling will return to Cronulla Leagues Club on March 6 to defend his Australian super middle-weight title in his first fight for 2010 – a year which he hopes will culminate in a regional belt.
The undefeated Bolling beat Serge Yannick at the same venue last year to take the title, in his first 10-round fight, and will now defend it against Joel Burke (14–18–2).
Trainer Brendon Cannon’s plans for the boxer include more experience at the longer 10-round bouts this year and then an Asia or Pan Pacific belt which would give him a world ranking in the top 10 or 15.
