Kurt Bahram (9–1 3KOs) rebounded from his previous controversial, premature stoppage loss to win the NSW Middleweight Title from Leroy Brown (6–1–1). Bahram used the ring well with his movement and constantly beat Brown to the punch with his superior jab. Brown kept coming forward throughout the contest but found his opponent too elusive as Bahram kept piling up the points and picked his angles well to unanimously outpoint Brown by the scores of 77/75, 77/75, 78/76.
On the undercard, Michael Van used his height and reach advantages to
outpoint New Zealander Ryan O’Connell (1–1). The judges’ scores were
40/36, 40/36, 40/37.
Former Australian amateur champion Sam Ah See made a successful professional debut when he stopped Frank Droulias (0–8) in the 1st round. A straight right dropped Droulias who did make it back to his feet. The referee asked him whether he wanted to continue but Droulias replied “No” and the fight was stopped at 1.28 mark.
Thailand’s Padjai Yongyuthgym impressively counter punched Junmar Dulog to win a majority decision by the scores 58/56, 58/55, 57/57.
Robert Whaley (3–1 2KOs) outpointed Casey Gilmour (6–3–3) over 6 rounds. Gilmour was the busier throughout the fight and constantly came forward. Whaley counter punched effectively off the ropes and landed the cleaner blows. Whaley had great success landing uppercuts that left Gilmore’s face a bloody mess. In the end, the judges’ scores were 60/54, 57/57, 59/57 in favour of Whaley.
