Orion Function Centre at Campsie was packed to the rafters Saturday night with
fans awaiting to see their local stars prove themselves against tough
The main event was between local boxer Hassan El Husseini and Mark Dalby from South Australia. El Husseini applied pressure during every round of the fight, initiating and changing his attacks from head to body. He looked like he was enjoying his opponent’s attacks, smiling back and encouraging him while being hit.
Dalby had a reach advantage and looked good on occasions but wasn’t able
to put El Husseini on the back foot. Both fighters kept a high pace over the
four rounds showing the fans they were well prepared for this contest. The NSW
fighter won the contest by majority point decision. Two judges ruled in favour
of El Husseini and one judge had it a draw.
The main supporting bout was at Super Middleweight division between Ahmed Dib (no relation to Billy Dib) and Aaron McAllister from Queensland. Dib started well with good power and movement at the beginning of the 4×3 minute fight. His body shots were showing they could do some damage in later rounds. Both very fit fighters kept it hard for the audience to decide who had the edge in this contest as they stood toe to toe for the rest of the fight.
Judges ruled the contest in favour of the NSW fighter identically on all three cards 39:37
One of the most vocal fights was a contest between “The Irish Psycho” Tony Bates and Troy Glover. Bates, coming into the fight with two previous wins on his professional resume, was more composed and relaxed than in his previous fight (26.08.2011) on a JNI show. Bates connected nicely in the last seconds of round one with a straight right hand that shook Glover. The second round saw Bates dominating with big body shots mixed with overhand rights. Referee Garry Dean stopped the fight after putting a second count on the Queenslander. Bates thanked the crowd and announced his next fight will be on the 19th of November on Billy Hussein’s next show.
